To Release and Beyond
Hello all!! today we have hit a decently large milestone of Release.
What does this mean????
well the project is probably as polished as it has ever been and the future is looking even brighter, we have put together a few new builds (only two are visible on the Downloads section) aptly named:
- BioDread_v1.1_a2
- BioDread_v1.1_a2_NOHELM (this version contains no Helmet HUD)
You might be asking why is there so many 1s in this version and let me explain our newly established file naming convention:
- The number directly following the "v" is the major version so in this case 1 would = Release
- The second number which comes after the "." is the intermediate patch number so 1 in this case would be the first segment of major changes in release (this would involve major changes such as new models for current items/assets, and multiple script changes).
- The FINAL number will always follow an "a" to indicate "amend" or in usual industry terms: a hotfix. Any patch from us that is too small to be affect a major component of the game or simply a patch that involves so FEW changes it is not considered an intermediate change (fixing minor text or spelling errors for example).
If that is confusing, I'm sorry. Anyway, let us talk about what is new and fresh for this version of the game:
- NEW UI! all UI and text has been updated to match our new general colour scheme and digital look.
- Refurbished Level Layout and now ALL THE ENTRANCES (TECHNICALLY) WORK allowing you to enter from any door.
- LOTS OF NEW SOUNDS and ambience
- Gameplay loop is fully functioning
- NEW Treasure Meshes and Icons (for some)
- NEW Tool Meshes and Icons
- THE GAME NOW HAS ITS OWN APP ICON
We are continuing to add more and more in the future for the current future, let talk about things that are currently on our radar (as of 1PM PST November, 21st 2024)
Bugs and Issues:
- breathing and bubble sound does not stop when player presses Logout to go aback to menu
- player can continue to toggle flashlight on and off during the death from the submarine cam, continues to produce flashlight sound effect
- new random ambiance plays way too often
- flashlight clips through mask (ONLY IN THE VERSION WITH THE HELM)
- new whistle ambient sound ends abruptly
- new sounds will play over each other
Missing Assets:
- AnglerFish is being implemented as I write this.
- Submarine as well.
- Various environment props and accompanying materials.
These are just the current things on our bug list, as people get there hands on the new version we will continue to hear gather more and more.
